Training
Overview
Our ARES/RACES team of Amateur Radio operators decide what training directions we want to take and prepare a significant amount of material to support our efforts. Right now our training efforts include:
- Creating a radio room log
- Publishing a "flip card" operations manual for the radio room
- Conducting twice monthly HF net operations
- Completing FEMA ICS courses (see below)
FEMA Home Study Courses
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through its Emergency Management Institute (EMI) offers a wide variety of online courses covering numerous topics. Best of all these courses cost you nothing and, if you complete them successfully, EMI will send you a very nice certificate.
For ARES/RACES team members, our Wallowa County Emergency Management Director has suggested three courses related to the Incident Command System (ICS)
The links below will guide you to a specific course offering. When you take one of these courses you must complete each lesson before closing your browser. Otherwise you won't receive credit for that part of the course. At the end of the lesson material you can take the final exam.
